Winged Escort
Observation
At 12:00 local time the Valley of Giants offered an uncommon sight: the migrating column of Diplodocus was joined from above by several Pteranodon that dropped their altitude and paced the herd along its corridor. The birds maintained a low, circling flight that occasionally dipped closer to the ground.
Their behavior did not appear hostile — rather, the pterosaurs seemed to exploit the thermals and the small animals disturbed by the diplodoci's heavy footsteps. Younger Pteranodon performed tentative passes near the long necks and backs of the giants, creating a striking visual juxtaposition between the lumbering herbivores and the agile winged scouts.
Keepers reported no disruption to the migration: breeding females held formation, juveniles stayed with the group, and the pterosaurs eventually turned back toward Ptero Cliffs after a short escort. The episode was quiet and almost ceremonial, highlighting how different species can momentarily share space without conflict.
