Storm over Ptero Cliffs

Storm at Ptero Cliffs: Pteranodons brace in wind, rain sweeps the ledges, nests cling to rock recesses. Storm
Early this morning a squall line formed over Ptero Cliffs, bringing sharp gusts and driving rain that lashed the upper ledges. Windward nests of the Pteranodon were the first to show signs of distress — juveniles tucked closer to the rock faces while adults worked to secure nesting material in sheltered hollows.

The monitoring team shifted the sector to heightened patrols: routes were rerouted from the cliff edge to protected tracks that allow faster access to nests. Crews focused on bracing large branches and assessing scarped areas to prevent secondary falls after the recent instability.

Despite the turmoil, the pterosaurs displayed their usual resilience: most nests held thanks to dense coverings and placement in recesses on the ledges. The team will keep the sector under observation throughout the day — forecasts predict the front will weaken by evening, though local downpours and strong gusts may persist for several more hours.

As a precaution, staff readied temporary shelters and soft padding for any displaced hatchlings, and installed temporary windbreaks at the most exposed sites. A full inspection of the upper ledges is scheduled for tomorrow morning when access will be safer.
