Early this morning at Ptero Cliffs coordinated activity among the Pteranodons picked up: several adults made low, deliberate circuits above the ledges, checking nests with focused precision. Their flight lacked the sharp bursts of aggression sometimes seen during disputes and read more as a calm inspection and encouragement for the chicks.
Juvenile Pteranodons answered with short calls and tentative wing beats from several nests, preparing for their first short attempts at leaving the ledges. Keepers reported mild, warm conditions on the cliffs, providing favorable weather for these early training flights and lowering the chance of panicked responses from the young.
No incidents were recorded: adults maintained distance from human observers and confined their activity to circular checks. Observations will continue through the day — keepers are watching closely for the initial series of short take-offs among the youngest birds.
