Morning Column in the Valley of Giants
Daily report
This morning at approximately 07:30 local time a sizable group of Diplodocus longus crossed sector B-12 in the Valley of Giants. Movement was even-paced: mature individuals formed a compact line that threaded between stands of ancient horsetails and ferns. It was the typical grazing migration rhythm — slow advances, frequent feeding pauses, and tactile exchanges between neighbors.
The young diplodoci stayed nearer the column’s center and lifted their heads at several points in response to strong morning scents. Keepers report the herd in good condition: coats on the hindquarters and neck appear clean and movements steady. Two observation posts were placed on the passage’s flanks for safety; no alarms or feeding disputes were recorded.
Near the junction where the Valley meets the Fern Forest, small herds of lesser grazers and the occasional Stegosaurus gave the column wide berth, allowing uninterrupted passage. This is a familiar scene in the giants zone, but today the level of coordination within the group was particularly striking — likely helped by the recent calm weather.
The day shift will continue monitoring the column until it fully exits sector B-12; a short report and photographic records of selected individuals are planned for comparison with previous logs.
