Clifffall at Ptero Nests

Scattered chalk debris at the edge of Ptero Cliffs near Pteranodon nests at sunrise. Incident
Early this morning a minor collapse of a chalky cliff section occurred at Ptero Cliffs, within the area of active Pteranodon nesting. The fall affected three monitored nests — one egg shows a crack, and two nests were partially covered by loose rock debris.

The on‑duty observation team immediately cordoned off the area and switched to heightened surveillance: wind and further rock movement are being assessed to rule out additional slides. Nearby Pteranodons showed agitation; several adults temporarily relocated to adjacent ledges.

Veterinarians and keepers inspected the damaged egg — the crack appears superficial and currently does not pose a confirmed threat to hatching; the egg was placed in a protected incubation box pending a final decision. Specialists are manually clearing the nests under conservation protocols to avoid disturbing the adults and prevent unnecessary panic.

The incident did not spread to neighboring habitats, but staff advise keeping distance from cliff edges and have increased monitoring for the next 48 hours. Visitors are asked to follow staff instructions and remain behind barriers.
