A Crack in the Shell
Incident
In the early hours at the incubator bordering Fern Forest, the night watch registered a faint vibration and a delicate cracking sound coming from one of the clutches. A Triceratops egg showed signs of premature breach — a hairline fracture and an internal temperature spike above expected ranges.
Following safety protocols, the keeper team quickly cordoned the immediate area, engaged thermal support systems and prepared a mobile transport capsule in case evacuation was necessary. The lead paleobiologist oversaw the procedure to minimize stress on the developing embryo.
During the intervention, small omnivorous visitors were drawn by scent and approached the perimeter; they were gently deterred by remote measures without lethal force. Staff describe the situation as a controlled incident: the shell remains largely intact but will require continuous observation and a veterinary assessment.
A final decision on relocating the egg to a secure incubator environment will be made after the morning inspection. Guests are asked to respect barriers and avoid nearby viewing paths until an official update is released.
